How do I stop gum disease?
We can approach healing our mouths from gum disease, or preventing gum disease in the first place, from two different angles,
~ an ‘in the mouth’ approach and
~ a 'whole body immune support' approach.
This article will detail the 'in the mouth' approach to stopping the damage of gum disease.
First, let’s state what we now know.
Gum disease is caused by specific bad bugs in the mouth.
These bad bugs colonize along and under the gum line.
These bad bugs eat away at gum tissue and cause deepening of gum pockets over time.
The ‘in the mouth’ approach to ending gum disease is straight forward.
To rid the mouth of bad bugs we have to:
1. Disrupt and disorganize the bad bugs. We do this by committing to a consistent oral hygiene program of twice daily brushing and daily flossing.
2. Kill the bad bugs using a safe anti-microbial/anti-bacterial agent.
To increase our ability to stop the destruction in the mouth we have to:
1. Improve our oral hygiene technique.
